Assignment Recap

In this project, we are asked to use the principles we have learned in the past few weeks to describe ourselves. Before that, we need to create a mind map of self-portraits. Through this Project, we can become more familiar with and understand the principles we have learned in these few weeks.

Idea Exploration

My idea is that a girl longing for freedom is going from a dark road to a gate leading to an unknown world. She doesn't know or care about the world behind the gate because she wants to escape the confines of her home.

This is the element that will appear in my design. The girl will represent me, the door is the door to another world, a bunch of graves are to express the dark and depression, the sun and the moon will appear at the same time, the time of this design is when the sun and the moon alternate, that is At dusk, there is finally a way to the gate.

This is a draft. It's a girl (me) looking at the gate to another world. She yearns for another world and wants to escape from the current world.

This is the final project. I added more elements, like hands. Those hands that look like they are grabbing the girl are trying to express "bondage", she wants to break free from the shackles of her home and escape to another free world. But this journey is only her own because she has no friends, so this "escape road" is only going forward by herself.

Feedback by Lecturer

Ms. Jinchi gave me a lot of inspiration. I originally wanted to try balance to create "two different worlds". Under her suggestion, I chose another way to do it Create my design. I was inspired to create this design after she showed me different examples of "illustration to another world".

Reflection

In this Project 1, I learned to use words to describe myself to come together to create a design. In this design, I referred to many different designs on the Internet and finally chose "leading to another world" as my final design. This design expresses my longing for freedom.
