Experience
Compared to Typography, Advanced Typography is more flexible but also more
challenging. There are many connections between this module and the Typography
course from the previous semester, especially in Task 3, which can be seen as
an extension of Typography Task 3. I learned a lot from the previous semester,
so even though I faced many challenges in designing fonts this semester, I was
able to quickly overcome them.
Observation
I've noticed a significant challenge in the speed of my design work,
primarily stemming from a difficulty in establishing clear objectives for
myself. This lack of defined goals often leads to time inefficiencies during
the design process. Identifying specific targets and setting a clear
direction could potentially streamline my workflow and enhance overall
productivity. Moving forward, I aim to address this issue by incorporating
more focused planning and goal-setting strategies into my design approach.
Finding
Through this module, I have come to realize that creating a font is not as
simple as just drawing some letterforms. Designing a font involves
considering numerous factors, including the size of the font, the way it is
presented, and its coordination with other letterforms. This not only
requires technical proficiency but also a profound understanding of design
principles and typography. During the design process, I faced some
challenges, especially in kerning, but it also heightened my attention to
detail and the overall design aesthetics. This experience has given me a
greater appreciation for the complexity of font design, and it has sparked
my interest in further exploration and learning in this field.
