✿ FINAL PROJECT: STOP MOTION ✿
In this task, students are mandated to create a stop-motion video adhering
to a specified theme. The use of voiceovers, sound effects, and music is
encouraged to narrate a captivating story. The challenge is to limit the
production to no more than two characters and locations, capturing only one
event within less than 15 shots. This task aims to test creativity,
storytelling efficiency, and technical skills in crafting a concise and
engaging stop-motion narrative.
1.0 RESEARCH
Before diving into the stop-motion project, I conducted some research by
exploring ideas on YouTube. After watching several videos, I was inspired to
create a stop-motion video with the title "Life of A Tree." This theme
likely involves visually capturing the various stages of a tree's life,
offering a creative and engaging narrative through the stop-motion
technique.

2.0 IDEATION
In the stop-motion project, I plan to capture the entire life cycle of a
tree, from sprouting to experiencing the seasons of spring, summer, autumn,
and winter. This concept aims to vividly portray the various stages of a
tree's life using stop-motion techniques, creating a dynamic and creative
narrative.

4.0 SHOOTING
After completing the mood board, I proceeded to shoot the video using only
paper. This creative choice likely allowed for a unique and visually
interesting approach to the stop-motion project, showcasing the versatility
of materials in creating engaging visual narratives.
Figure 3.1 Stop Motion
Taking around 300 pictures for the stop-motion project indicates a substantial
effort and attention to detail. Creating stop-motion involves capturing a
sequence of frames to simulate motion, and a higher number of pictures often
results in smoother and more fluid animations. It reflects a commitment to the
project and a desire to convey a comprehensive visual story, especially
considering the intricacies of illustrating the life cycle of a tree.
5.0 DIGITALIZATION
After capturing around 300 pictures for my stop-motion project, I imported
them into Premiere Pro. To ensure a smooth and coherent motion, I set each
frame to a 2-second duration. This deliberate choice in frame duration aims
to enhance the overall visual flow of the stop-motion animation, allowing
the audience to follow the narrative seamlessly. This step in the editing
process is crucial for achieving the desired pacing and storytelling effect
in line with my creative vision.

After processing the images into an animation, I proceeded to apply color
grading. Color grading is a crucial step in enhancing the visual aesthetics
and mood of the stop-motion project. It allows for the creative manipulation
of colors to evoke specific emotions or atmospheres, adding an extra layer
of visual appeal to the final animation. This stage likely involved
adjusting tones, contrasts, and hues to achieve the desired look and feel in
line with the thematic elements of "Life of A Tree."

✿ REFLECTION ✿
Embarking on the final project, "Life of A Tree," has been an incredibly
fulfilling journey. From the initial ideation to the meticulous execution,
every phase contributed to my growth in the realm of stop-motion animation.
The decision to showcase the complete life cycle of a tree was driven by a
desire to encapsulate the beauty and resilience of nature. The extensive
research and moodboard creation paved the way for a well-defined visual
narrative. Shooting the entire animation using only paper brought a unique and
charming quality to the project, underscoring the versatility of simple
materials. Taking approximately 300 pictures demanded patience and precision,
ensuring a fluid and captivating animation. In post-production, the color
grading process added an extra layer of depth, evoking the changing seasons
and enhancing the overall aesthetic. This final project has not only honed my
technical skills but also deepened my appreciation for storytelling through
animation, leaving me with a sense of accomplishment and readiness for future
creative endeavors in the world of visual storytelling.
