✿ LECTURE RECAP ✿

In Project 2, Mr. Martin divided us into two groups, namely Project S and Project B. I was assigned to the Project B group.

After our division into two groups, I had the opportunity to watch the scene that we were going to shoot the following week. The movie we were working on is "BEEF."

✿ PROJECT 2A: PRODUCTION SHOOT ✿

1.0 SHOOTING

Once our group members were confirmed, we set up a WhatsApp group for further discussions and coordination. In this group, I took on the role of the lighting assistant, responsible for managing the lighting aspects of our project.

During the week of the shooting, Mr. Martin didn't hold classes, and our group was allocated a studio for our filming. Once all the team members had gathered, we commenced the shooting process. We followed the order outlined in the storyboard, and the day's activities proceeded exceptionally smoothly.

After the shoot concluded, the leader uploaded all the video and audio files to Google Drive and shared them in our WhatsApp group for everyone to download.

In week 6, Mr. Martin introduced us to the concept of color grading, and he asked us to apply color grading to Project 2. This likely involved enhancing and manipulating the color and overall look of the footage to achieve a desired visual style or mood.

Once I had completed the color grading, I proceeded to edit the video and added some special effects to enhance the overall look and feel. Additionally, Mr. Martin posted a tutorial video on how to create rolling end credits, which was a valuable resource for adding credits to our project.

✿ PROJECT 2B:  TIKTOK/INSTA ✿

In Project 2B, we were tasked with shooting a video and sharing it on TikTok. This project seemed to be quite straightforward and manageable for everyone involved.

1.0 PROPOSAL

Mr. Martin provided us with a PowerPoint file for our Project 2B proposal. In this presentation, we were required to include the following elements:
  • Self-Titled: The title or name of our project.
  • Description: A description or overview of the project's content, theme, and concept.
  • Music: Information about the music or audio that would be used in the project.
  • Moodboard: Visual elements, images, or illustrations that capture the intended mood, style, or atmosphere of the project.
  • Visual References: References to visuals or styles that inspire or influence the project's look and feel.
  • Storyboard: A sequence of visual or textual representations outlining the key scenes and shots of the project.
This comprehensive proposal likely served as a plan for Project 2B, helping to outline and communicate the project's creative vision and execution.

2.0 SHOOTING

Because it wasn't feasible to complete the filming on my own, I invited my high school classmates to assist me with Project 2B. Given my deep affection for seaside landscapes, I decided to shoot the project by the sea. This choice would add a unique visual and emotional quality to the project.

3.0 DIGITALIZATION

After completing the filming, I used CapCut for editing and color correction. This software is particularly user-friendly. I adjusted the visuals to achieve a vintage look, added some effects, and included subtitles to enhance the final result.

✿ REFLECTION ✿

In Project 2A, due to my absence, I was unaware of the work assignments and only received notification a few days before the shooting. Unfortunately, on the day of the shoot, I was feeling unwell and could only assist my team with some minor tasks. Nevertheless, this project was intriguing as it provided us with the opportunity to explore various filming equipment that we wouldn't typically have access to in our daily lives. I was delighted to have the chance to use these tools, despite the challenges I faced. This experience deepened my understanding of different filming equipment and provided valuable insights for my future work in video production.

Project 2B was a compelling exploration of video storytelling, focusing on a self-titled documentary from a boyfriend's viewpoint, reflecting on shared memories with an ex-girlfriend. Shooting by the seaside, with the help of high school friends, added an emotionally resonant backdrop. CapCut proved to be a user-friendly tool for editing, enabling the creation of a vintage atmosphere, enriched with special effects and subtitles. This project not only enhanced technical skills but also emphasized the emotional impact of visuals and sound in storytelling, underscoring the potential of video production to evoke emotions and memories. It showcased the importance of creativity, structure, and collaboration in crafting meaningful and compelling content, offering valuable insights for future video production endeavors.
