✿ LECTURE ✿
Week 1
In the first week, Mr. Fauzi briefed us about the module, and he asked us to
create a board on Pinterest and pin all the motion designs that we like onto
it. Additionally, he gave us an exercise which required us to find three
favorite motion graphic designs from YouTube, copy and paste the links into
a Google Doc, and describe and explain why we liked each video.

Motion graphics are animated visuals that use graphic design principles to
create the illusion of motion or movement. They often combine elements
like text, shapes, images, and sometimes video footage to convey
information, tell stories, or evoke emotions. Motion graphics are commonly
used in various media such as advertisements, explainer videos, title
sequences for films and TV shows, user interface animations, and more.
They can range from simple animations to complex and highly detailed
visual compositions.
Week 3
Figure 1.2 Week 3 PowerPoint
In the third week, Mr. Fauzi introduced us to the fundamental elements of
composition in art, comprising eight key principles: unity, balance, movement,
rhythm, focus, contrast, pattern, and proportion.
Unity: Harmony and coherence within the artwork.

Balance: Distribution of visual weight for stability.

Movement: Guiding the viewer's eye through the composition.

Rhythm: Repetition or alternation of elements for flow.

Focus: Directing attention to specific areas or elements.

Contrast: Juxtaposing different elements for emphasis.
Figure 1.8 Contrast
Pattern: Repeating motifs or designs for visual interest.

Week 4
During week 4, Mr. Fauzi demonstrated the process of creating kinetic
typography in After Effects. He guided us through the steps, from setting up
the text and keyframes to applying animations that bring the typography to
life. This session provided us with valuable insights into the intricacies of
kinetic typography, including timing, motion paths, and the use of effects to
enhance visual impact. Through his detailed explanation and hands-on
demonstration, we gained a deeper understanding of how to effectively use
After Effects to create dynamic and engaging text animations. This knowledge
is crucial for adding a professional touch to our motion graphic projects.

Week 5
During week 5, Mr. Fauzi assigned us a practical task involving collage
creation and animation. This task was similar to the first exercise but
required us to incorporate more advanced techniques and tricks. The aim was
to push our creative boundaries and further develop our skills in both
collage design and animation, challenging us to apply more complex methods
and achieve a higher level of proficiency.
Week 6
Figure 1.12 Video from Youtube
In week 6, Mr. Fauzi provided a detailed demonstration on how to complete
Task 2, which involved creating a channel bumper. He guided us through the
entire process, from conceptualizing the design to executing the animation.
We learned how to incorporate various elements, such as branding, motion
graphics, and sound design, to produce a compelling and professional channel
bumper. His step-by-step instructions and practical tips were invaluable,
helping us understand the nuances of creating a dynamic and engaging bumper
that effectively captures the essence of a channel. This session was
instrumental in equipping us with the skills and knowledge needed to tackle
Task 2 with confidence and creativity.
Week 7
In week 7, he reviewed our progress on Task 2 and provided us with valuable
feedback. His insights helped us identify areas for improvement and refine
our channel bumpers to better align with the project goals. This feedback
session was instrumental in guiding us towards creating more polished and
professional final products.

Week 9
In week 9, Mr. Fauzi briefed us on Task 3, which is a continuation of Task 2,
the Channel Bumper project. Before introducing Task 3, he also taught us some
animatic skills. This additional training was invaluable as it provided us
with advanced techniques and insights that would help enhance our animations
and ensure a higher level of professionalism in our work. The new skills we
learned were directly applicable to our ongoing projects, allowing us to
refine and elevate our channel bumpers further.
Week 10
In week 10, Mr. Fauzi facilitated a session where he guided us through a
tutorial video on YouTube, focusing on advanced techniques relevant to our
coursework. This instructional approach provided us with practical
demonstrations and insights that enhanced our understanding and skill
development in motion graphics.

Week 11
In week 11, Mr. Fauzi dedicated time to offering constructive feedback on our
Task 3 projects. His insights and suggestions were instrumental in helping us
refine our motion graphic designs further, ensuring they met the creative and
technical standards expected in the course.

✿ EXERCISES ✿
Week 1: Practical
The task involved finding three favorite motion graphic designs on
YouTube, adding their links to a Google Doc, and describing each video's
unique features and why we liked them. This exercise prompted us to
analyze animation styles, storytelling techniques, and overall impact,
fostering a deeper understanding of our aesthetic preferences and
creative aspirations in motion graphics.

Week 2: Digital Collage
In the second week, Mr. Fauzi assigned us a collage exercise, followed by
animating it in After Effects.
Requirement:
1. Create a canvas sized 1920 x 1080 using Photoshop. Utilize the Pen
tool to trace and crop the images as required.
2. Develop three distinct compositions, utilizing identical design
elements for each.
3. From the three compositions, select the most compelling one. Animate
this chosen composition for a duration of 15 seconds.

✿ REFLECTION ✿
Reflecting on the tasks of the past two weeks, I've noticed significant growth
in my design and animation skills. Last week's collage exercise pushed me to
experiment creatively, blending images in Photoshop to convey themes and then
animating them in After Effects, enhancing my proficiency in both programs.
This hands-on experience not only expanded my technical skills but also
deepened my understanding of visual storytelling. Additionally, I took the
initiative to learn more about motion graphics through YouTube, which provided
me with further insights and a better understanding of the concept. Overall,
these experiences have enriched my creative toolkit and provided valuable
insights into crafting compelling visual narratives.
