✿ LECTURE ✿

Week 1
In the first week, Mr. Rafiz introduced us to the Sonic Design module, which focuses on audio. He showed us some projects from our seniors and also taught us about the Effect Rack, which includes techniques like Layering, Time Stretching, Pitch Shifting, Reversing, and Mouth It.

1. Layering: Combining multiple sounds to create a richer, more complex audio.

2. Time Stretching: Changing the duration of a sound without affecting its pitch.

3. Pitch Shifting: Altering the pitch of a sound without changing its speed.

4. Reversing: Playing audio backward for dramatic or unique effects.

5. Mouth It: Using vocal sounds to imitate instruments or effects in audio production.

✿ EXERCISES ✿

Exercise 1

In the first exercise, Mr. Rafiz taught us how to use Adobe Audition, and he showed us how to complete the exercise.

Access the Parametric Equalizer: This tool will allow us to manipulate different frequency bands (low, mid, high).

Adjust the Frequency Bands: We should experiment with boosting or cutting specific frequencies to understand how each range affects the overall sound.

For example:
- Boost the low frequencies for more bass.
- Emphasize the mid frequencies for clarity.
- Adjust the high frequencies to make the sound brighter or sharper.

Listen and Compare: After making changes, we should play the original audio and compare it to the adjusted version to hear the difference.

Exercise 2

In week 2, Mr. Rafiz gave us an audio file to edit, and the task involves working on different sounds like bathroom sound, stadium sound, closet sound, walkie-talkie sound, and telephone sound. In week 2, Mr. Rafiz guided us step by step through the audio editing process so we could follow along and complete the exercise during class.

Exercise 4

In week 4, we were tasked with spending one hour adding environmental sound effects to a given picture, and we had to submit our work to Mr. Razif for feedback.

For the photo given by the lecturer, which was a laboratory, I decided to use a computer lab sound as the ambient background. Then, I searched for a hospital ambience with a beeping sound to add more layers. Along with that, I found a water drop sound effect to include. After a few seconds, I added a laser gun sound and an explosion effect to intensify the overall scene.

✿ REFLECTION ✿

In the exercises, I find it challenging because I am not yet familiar with Adobe Audition. However, despite the difficulty, I find the process enjoyable and rewarding. The exercises are designed in a way that makes them fun and engaging, allowing me to explore and learn new skills while working on audio editing. This combination of challenge and enjoyment keeps me motivated and excited to improve with each task.
