✿ PROJECT 2 ✿

For Project 2, students are tasked with creating an audio image that tells a story from a first-person point of view, using only sound to convey the narrative. Without relying on voice or dialogue, the goal is to depict a scenario where the listener can visualize the events unfolding based solely on the audio tracks. This requires careful planning, where students create a storyboard to organize and layer various sounds that represent actions, movements, and environmental elements. The challenge lies in making the scenario immersive and clear through sound manipulation techniques, ensuring that the audio alone is enough for the listener to imagine the scene. The project encourages creativity in using ambient noise, sound effects, and spatial audio to paint a vivid picture and engage the listener's imagination.

I have chosen to create an audio story based on Cinderella, focusing on key moments such as the magical transformation, the excitement of the ball, and the dramatic moment of midnight, all told through sound alone.

1.0 RESEARCH

Before I start creating the audio, I use ChatGPT to help me craft the story. This ensures I have a clear narrative to follow, which makes it easier to select and organize the sound elements for the project. By having a structured story, I can focus on how to translate the events into an immersive audio experience.

2.0 DIGITALIZATION

First, I record the story by myself, ensuring that I capture the essence of the narrative. This allows me to have a personal understanding of the story's flow and emotional tone. Once I have the recording, I can move on to the next steps of selecting and editing the appropriate sound elements to bring the story to life.

After I finish recording, I import the file into Adobe Audition for editing. Once the recording is in place, I use Freesound to search for audio clips that match the scenes and mood of the story. These sound effects help to enhance the narrative and immerse the listener in the environment I'm trying to create.

After I finish editing the audio, I add all the photos that correspond to the scenes in the audio. These images help visualize the story, providing a visual representation of the narrative that complements the sound and enhances the overall experience. By aligning the audio with the appropriate visuals, I can create a cohesive and immersive presentation.

FINAL OUTCOME

✿ REFLECTION ✿

For Project 2, I had the opportunity to create an audio story based on the classic tale of Cinderella. This project was a unique challenge, as I had to convey the entire story through sound alone, without the use of voice or dialogue. I began by using ChatGPT to help create the story, then recorded it myself to capture the essence of the narrative. Afterward, I imported the recording into Adobe Audition and searched for the right audio effects on Freesound to bring the scenes to life. I carefully layered the sounds, paying attention to the first-person perspective and ensuring each sound contributed to the story's atmosphere. The process required creativity and attention to detail, as I needed to make the audio immersive enough for the listener to visualize the events. Adding the images at the end helped to reinforce the story visually, making the experience even more engaging. Overall, this project allowed me to enhance my sound design skills and taught me how to use audio to tell a compelling story. It was a rewarding challenge that pushed me to think critically about how sound can create vivid imagery and convey emotion.
