✿ TASK 1: TECHNICAL & MOTION GRAPHIC SENSIBILITIES ✿

TASK 1 DESCRIPTION:

Students are presented with a range of tasks encompassing both basic and advanced levels to cultivate their motion graphics sensibilities while enhancing technical proficiency and knowledge.

REQUIREMENTS:

Each student is tasked with independently exploring and advancing their technical skills and knowledge within the relevant software. Collaboration with peers and guidance from the facilitator are encouraged to foster a supportive learning environment.

✿ TASK 1: TECHNICAL & MOTION GRAPHIC SENSIBILITIES ✿

1.0 RESEARCH

Before I started creating the design, I watched the example provided by Mr. Fauzi on YouTube. We only needed to complete four of them.

After watching the example given by Mr. Fauzi, I started searching for similar examples on Pinterest. However, it was challenging to find motion examples there, so I decided to look at some similar examples and create the design myself.

2.0 DIGITALIZATION

Mr. Fauzi provided us with a template that we could directly edit, which was extremely helpful. This template served as a starting point, allowing us to focus more on the creative aspects of our work rather than spending too much time on the initial setup. By using this template, we could easily incorporate our own design elements and animations, making the process more efficient and manageable. The template also ensured that we adhered to the necessary dimensions and format requirements, allowing us to produce a polished and professional final product.

I worked on animating several key design elements, including balance, symmetry, focus, scale, and rhythm. For balance, I ensured that visual weight was evenly distributed across the composition, creating a harmonious and stable look. Symmetry involved mirroring elements to achieve a cohesive and pleasing arrangement. For focus, I highlighted specific parts of the design to draw the viewer's attention to important details. Scale was used to emphasize the size relationships between elements, adding depth and interest. For rhythm, I not only repeated certain elements and patterns to give the animation a dynamic flow but also created a soundtrack to enhance the rhythmic feel of the piece. Each of these elements was carefully animated to enhance the overall composition and convey a well-rounded, visually appealing story.

After completing the eight compositions—movement, hierarchy, balance, direction, symmetry, focus, scale, and rhythm—we were tasked with creating a composition remix. This involved combining elements from these previous works to form a new, cohesive piece. The remix required us to creatively integrate various aspects of these design principles, challenging us to think outside the box and explore innovative ways to blend and harmonize different elements. This task ultimately led to the creation of a unique and dynamic final composition, showcasing our ability to synthesize and apply the design principles we had learned.

Before diving into animating the remix, I began the process by searching for the perfect audio accompaniment. This involved exploring various soundtracks, considering different genres, rhythms, and moods to find the ideal match for the visuals I envisioned.

✿ REFLECTION ✿

Task 1 provided an enriching journey into the world of motion graphics, offering a diverse range of projects to explore and expand my skills. From mastering the intricacies of software like Photoshop and After Effects to collaborating with peers and seeking guidance from the facilitator, every aspect contributed to my growth. Through hands-on experience and experimentation, I gained a deeper understanding of animation principles, composition, and design aesthetics. The collaborative environment fostered creativity and encouraged me to push the boundaries of my capabilities. Overall, Task 1 served as a solid foundation for my development as a motion graphics artist, equipping me with the tools and knowledge needed to embark on future projects with confidence.
