✿ TASK 4: RESEARCH REFLECTION REPORT AND RECORDED PRESENTATION

In Task 4, I am required to summarize all the previous tasks—Task 1, Task 2, and Task 3—into one complete document. This includes revisiting my research proposal, the literature review, and my primary research findings, and compiling them in a clear and cohesive manner. I need to ensure all sections are well-organized and properly formatted. Additionally, I must design a proper cover page for the report. For the final submission, I also need to prepare a short video presentation to explain the summary of my research. This video should highlight the main points of my research journey, including the topic, research question, methodology, and key findings, demonstrating my understanding and reflection of the entire process.

✿ REFLECTION ✿

Throughout the Design Research Methodology module, I have gained valuable insights into how structured research processes inform and support creative practice, particularly in the field of animation. This module has helped me understand the importance of identifying a clear research problem, developing meaningful research questions, and choosing appropriate methods to gather and analyze data. By exploring hybrid animation through the lens of academic research, I learned how to connect practical design decisions with theoretical concepts, such as user engagement, emotional impact, and visual storytelling.

One of the most meaningful parts of the module was conducting surveys and interpreting data, which allowed me to understand how audiences perceive animated content like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. I realized that effective animation doesn't only rely on aesthetic appeal but also on how it emotionally connects with viewers—something that can be measured and analyzed through thoughtful research. The process of forming rationales, analyzing articles, and writing in APA style further developed my academic writing and critical thinking skills.

Overall, this module has strengthened my ability to approach design not just as an artist, but also as a researcher. It has given me tools to justify creative choices with evidence, explore user perspectives, and contribute to the growing field of animation research. I now feel more confident in applying these skills to future projects, knowing that good design is grounded in understanding, reflection, and purposeful inquiry.
